Did you know?
The world's oldest wine, 400 years old, comes from the Slovenian town of Maribor.
Zdravo! Slovenian is the official and state language of the Republic of Slovenia and the native language of approximately 2.4 million people. About 1.85 million of them live in Slovenia.
Slovenian has the word love in its very name, and it's also one of the few languages that in addition to singular and plural also has dual... Making it perfect for lovers, as in Slovenian there is nothing vague about how many of you are going to dinner.
Slovenian also features some rather amusingly innocent phrases of exasperation, which often reflect the culture's love for animals. Do not be surprised to hear someone say, 'Tristo kosmatih medvedov' (Three hundred hairy bears!) or, 'Naj te koklja brcne' (A hen should kick you!)
Despite the fact that Slovenian is limited to a relatively small territory and small number of speakers, dialectologists have established the presence of 46 clearly defined dialects, divided into six regional groups: Carinthian, Upper Carniolan, Lower Carniolan, Littoral, Rovte, Styrian and Pannonian.
